PASSPORT APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS 

ALL APPLICATIONS MUST BE COMPLETED IN BLACK INK 

The Marshall County Clerk’s Office processes initial Passports ONLY (Form DS-11). Applications are accepted Monday thru Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.  Forms are available at the Clerk’s Office or online at www.travel.state.gov.

INITIAL APPLICATIONS MUST INCLUDE:

• Form DS-11
• 2”x 2” Passport Photo
• Valid Driver’s License or Photo I.D. Card
• Proof of Citizenship which would include one of the following:
  • Birth Certificate with raised seal from Health Department not Hospital
  • Naturalization Certificate
  • Report of Birth Abroad
• $35.00 Cash or Credit **Per Application**(credit cards will have an additional $1 processing fee for amounts $25 and below or 3% for anything above $25)
• Check or Money Order made out to the U.S Department of State (see below for correct amount)

PLEASE NOTE: All children 15 and under MUST have both parents/guardian present, as well as the child, to sign child’s application in front of a passport agent.  Children ages 16 or 17 are required to have a parent/guardian present photo identification if the minor does not have identification of his or her own. (Learner’s permit is not valid identification).

• Passport BOOKS are required for flying (also good for traveling by land and sea)
• Passport CARDS are for traveling by land or sea

FEES:

16 years and older – valid for 10 years

ROUTINE:

  Book: $130.00 (Check or Money Order) to US Department of State and $35 (CASH/CREDIT) Clerk service fee

     Card: $30 (Check or Money Order) to US Department of State and $35 (CASH/CREDIT) Clerk service fee

 

EXPEDITE:

  Book: $190.00 (Cost includes $60.00 expedite fee) (Check or Money Order) to US Department of State

             $35 (CASH/CREDIT) Clerk service fee.  (There is an optional 1–2-day delivery fee for $21.36)

     Card: $90 (Check or Money Order) to US Department of State and $35 (CASH/CREDIT) Clerk fee

 

Infants up to and including age 15 – valid for 5 years

ROUTINE:

  Book: $100.00 (Check or Money Order) to US Department of State and $35 (CASH/CREDIT) Clerk service fee

     Card: $15 (Check or Money Order) to US Department of State and $35 (CASH/CREDIT) Clerk service fee

 

EXPEDITE:

  Book: $160.00 (Cost includes $60.00 expedite fee) (Check or Money Order) to US Department of State

                 $35 (CASH/CREDIT) Clerk service fee.  (There is an optional 1-2 day delivery fee for $21.36)

     Card: $75 (Check or Money Order) to US Department of State and $35 (CASH/CREDIT) Clerk service fee

 

PAYMENT OF FEES:

US Department of State requires payment in the form of check or money order.

Marshall County Clerk’s Office requires payment in the form of cash or credit.

UPDATED PROCESSING TIMES - EFFECTIVE OCTOBER 2, 2023

Expedited passport books and cards will be processed in 2 to 3 weeks.

Routine passport books and cards will be processed in 4 to 6 weeks.
